We were very excited to welcome over 50 people to our opening service, with some having traveled from as far as London, Huntingdon, Peterborough, and Mersea!
Our opening hymn, ‘To God Be The Glory’ seemed very appropriate as we considered that in hindsight, the vision of TCM was conceived on that trip of about 40 people, to Israel in October 2019. Out of those 40 people, 7 attended, while 4 participated in the service. Please see our website history for more details on the trip to Israel.
In addition, we reflected that the actual building, which ceased operation as a Brethren Chapel over 10 years ago and was fast falling into rack and ruin, has been wonderfully restored, mostly through the hard work of the remarkable John McCarthy. It was then noted that this is a picture of revival, in the sense that God takes something that appears to be dead and breathes life into it.
How we need revival in the Church across this nation! Let’s all earnestly seek the Lord for it!
Our opening prayer was led by one of the 4 that attended the trip to Israel, Pastor Gearoid Marley of Alconbury Independent Baptist Church. Then, Sam Jameson, who has done a great job installing the new sound system, shared what it means to him to no longer have to travel 100 miles to go to Church.

We were very honoured to have Pastor Rodney Sawtell read our main Bible Reading, John 1:1-14. For many years Rodney had been the Pastor of Eld Lane Baptist Church, the very Church that, in 1850, C. H. Spurgeon headed towards when he was diverted down a side street by a snowstorm and was then converted in that small, primitive Methodist Church.
I was then privileged to introduce Peter Abram, who is a medical doctor from Guyana, along with his wife Deborah. Whilst Peter was in Guyana, the Lord used him to build up a ministry amongst street children, where he used education with a heavy Christian emphasis to share the gospel with them. When he left there were 200 children being ministered to. Some of those street children are now doctors and many of them are fine Christians.

Sam and Beth Quinn
After helping his two children into the local grammar school, Peter is now working part-time in the UK to teach 14 children between the ages of 7-11. He has taken them from the bottom of their classes to the top of them. He explained his vision and how this work can be greatly expanded to glorify God.
We then had a piece of music from Sam and Beth Quinn, who are American missionaries working with Travis Snode for a year, before planting their own church here in the UK.
Finally, we were blessed to welcome our new Pastor Travis Snode and his wonderful family to the TCM, and listen to his inaugural sermon.
